Deliberations Diddy Trial : On Day 2 Jury Had A Partial Verdict

New York, USA — July 1 marked the second day of the Jury’s deliberations in the infamous Diddy Trial.

The jury in United States v. Diddy delivered a partial verdict today, finding the defendant guilty on all four sex-trafficking and transportation counts but reporting a deadlock on the racketeering conspiracy charge. Shortly after 4 p.m., the foreperson sent a note stating that jurors reached unanimous decisions on counts 2 through 5 yet remained irreconcilably split on count 1.

Counts 2 and 4 allege Diddy coerced Cassie Ventura and an accuser known as Jane into commercial sex acts, while counts 3 and 5 charge him with transporting those women and others across state lines to engage in prostitution. The panel’s verdict on these counts underscores the strength of the direct testimony and documentary evidence presented during trial.

Judge Arun Subramanian directed the jury to continue deliberating on the racketeering conspiracy count, quoting his earlier instructions: “I ask at this time that you keep deliberating.” Both prosecution and defense teams had urged the panel to press forward rather than suspend deliberations. The jury then informed the court they would adjourn at 5 p.m. and resume at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

With Friday a federal holiday and the courthouse normally closed, attorneys and the judge discussed contingency plans for July 3. Prosecutors favored staying on Thursday, while defense counsel requested waiting until late tomorrow before polling jurors on their availability, cautioning against any perception of undue pressure.

As the courtroom emptied, Diddy exchanged whispered words of reassurance with his six adult children and his mother, telling her he would be all right and tapping his chest affectionately. With the most serious racketeering charge still undecided, the twelve jurors will return tomorrow to determine whether the pattern of criminal acts satisfies federal conspiracy law.
